So Things are Looking Positive Again
Sunday, October 16, 2011
Long Beach Marathon
I ran the half in 1:39:42 per plan. My hip flexor was really painful afterwards but did not affect the 13.1 mile run. I'm still struggling with my weight and the hip flexor. I need to eat less and eat better plain and simple.
I'll likely have to cancel my appearance at the Sacramento International Marathon due to a business trip to Dubai; poor me. I'm looking for an event of any distance in the UAE to coincide with my visit. How cool would that be?

10/2/2011 – The hip flexor again!
For the past 7 days I have not run or biked (except to ride to the pool) while my hip flexor seemingly shows no improvement. It is times like this that the doubt starts creeping in. “Is that as hard as I can train?” or “I’ll never meet my goals with this body.” ARGH!
I can train harder, but not at 180 pounds. I read an article on the dive down south to visit my Daughter and meet her new gal-pal-Kal’. The article said to cut and paste your head onto you favorite triathlete’s body. So I’ll post that when I get to it. It should be good for a laugh and help me get down to 160.
Goals
It’s all about goals. I have accomplished everything I set out to do in my life, which like being injury free means I probably didn’t set my goals high enough (and I was always too fat…lol). Well I’m pretty sure that my Ironman goals are high enough and weather or not I accomplish them, I am going to do something that I see nobody around me doing. Something lacking in the public at large:
I’m going to find out just what I’m made of. How far I can go, how tough I am. When I die I’m damn sure going to be tired!

3:43:05 – Santa Rosa Marathon
Perfect was the preparation, equipment, course, nutrition. Perfect was the rest, support, temperature, humidity and atmosphere. This was the perfect day to run 26.2. This was a perfect day for preparation to meet opportunity. This is the day I will make a run at my Boston qualifying time.

Today I am a Triathlete - My first triathlon
1. I have the best support group on the planet. I had my own cheering section. Thanks Tina, Katie, Max and Danielle (my wife and kids). Thanks Mary Anne (my good friend and Danielle's mom). Thanks Tresa and Bella (our close friends). You guys mad me feel great during and after the race.
2. I am making good progress toward my goal and have a long way to go.
3. My bike fitness is good. I made it as high as 4rth overall from about 50th before having mechanical problems.
4. Never take a new bike to an important race.
5. Always give help to a fellow competitor. It makes u feel good.
6. Settle in on the swim asap. I swam over 500 yards before I settled down and trusted what I has learned in training.
7. I need to do more open water swimming and maybe some more smaller triathlons.
8. A 4 mile run can feel like a marathon if the terrain is brutal.
9. My current age group is tough! The overall winner was 45 and 6 of the top 15 were between 45 and 49.
It was a great experience. I finished 17th in a field of over 137 and 6th in my age group. I didn't take home a medal but I still felt victory.
Mahn Sae!
Try harder and Never give up!

Happy Aniversary Honeyah!
The family of an Ironman on the other hand, sees only sacrafice. Sacrafice that the Ironman selfishly takes day in and day out, seemingly withour reguard - Not this one!
Without you, I cannot become the Ironman that I so selfishly want to become - THANKYOU, I love you and Happy 10th Aniversary Honeyah!
